GROW AS A CHARLOTTE FELLOW…
Alongside spiritual growth, one of the markers of the Charlotte Fellows is the emphasis on mental (intellectual growth) and emotional health. As Fellows learn and grow in their knowledge of God and who God made them to be, they are invited to grow personally through a 1:1 mentoring relationship. This relationship is designed to be a safe place to ask tough questions, be known, and learn from someone in a season of life ahead of them.
Alongside the mentoring, we encourage individual counseling at The Barnabas Center as significant life transitions often bring up internal struggles. We celebrate this opportunity to grow interpersonally which better equips us to live out the gospel.
Fellows take one or two theological classes over the course of the year. Past classes have explored the redemptive history and the intersection of the Gospel, career and culture. On a monthly basis, Fellows also participate in a Professional Development curriculum that covers everything from career discernment, resume and LinkedIn development, networking, and interviewing skills. One of our goals is for Fellows to graduate from the program prepared for what’s next: a job in their desired industry, graduate school/seminary, etc.
A priority of our program is equipping Fellows to grow in intercultural competency and racial reconciliation, beginning with humility and listening to others. God calls us to love our neighbor and we can’t do that well unless we are aware of our cultural and racial disparities and injustices. Through conversations and an educational, diverse curriculum, Fellows are encouraged to do the hard heart work necessary to embrace lasting healing, reconciliation, and relationships with others who may not look or think like them. Fellows are able to worship with our partner church, Christ Central, an intentionally multi-ethnic congregation, and will also work and serve with organizations committed to diversity.
